This is a fan fiction page for the character of “Shizune Mai.” This character was created to participate in the Final Fantasy VII Roleplay in Second Life, so that’s two or three more layers of indirection for you. Basically, I wanted there to be a page where I could collect all of the fan fiction around this character and her history.

          So who was Shizune Mai? In short, she started as a Shinra Military Police Officer (MP) in the Alpha Company, ranked up to Staff Sergeant, then was secretly recruited into the Turks as the head of the Research QMC. Following some political fallout which she has no idea about, she and 4 other Turk agents were exiled from Midgar.

          As for the author in real life (that is, outside of the metaverse of Second Life), I'm finishing up my Ph.D. in Interactive Narrative in Games at a graduate school in Japan. Most of the fiction on this site started pretty much right after I finished writing the bulk of my Ph.D. Dissertation. It makes sense--after torturing myself with analytical, academic writing for so many years, I refreshingly went back to my fiction-writing roots.

          This site is merely a repository of fiction for this character. These short stories get into this character's past with the Shinra Security Forces and Turks, their present as a ronin, and their potential future.
